Profession: Recording Artist and Songwriter

Bio: Kennard Wilson is an R&B singer and songwriter from Baltimore, Maryland. His music blends soulful melodies with honest storytelling that connects emotionally with listeners. His journey began at the age of thirteen when he discovered his voice while singing at Israel Baptist Church in Baltimore City. That experience led him to develop a deep appreciation for music rooted in soul, faith, and community. By sixteen, he began writing original music and sharpening his vocal skills while attending Frederick Douglass High School, where his dedication to the craft continued to grow.

In 2014, he released his first mixtape titled Proceed. The project highlighted smooth R&B production and showcased his natural ability to tell authentic stories through music. The release earned him attention for his vocal versatility and calm but emotional delivery. Kennard credits his grandmother as one of his earliest influences, along with David Ruffin, Marvin Gaye, Dru Hill, and Mario. Each of these artists inspired him to embrace soulful expression, vulnerability, and classic R&B sensibilities.

Over the years, Kennard continued to study his sound and grow as an artist. His latest project, Proceed 2, was released on August 22, 2025, after two years of careful development. He took the time to shape every track with intention, believing that music is an art form that should never be rushed. That mindset gives the album sincerity and emotional depth. Proceed 2 contains eight songs influenced by personal experiences, including heartbreak, healing, and loss. The track Rain reflects the grief he felt after losing his aunt and later his uncle. Rather than hide that pain, he chose to share it through music so listeners could find comfort in their own struggles.

The album was recorded at Wright Way Studios in a creative environment that allowed him to experiment freely. There is a single collaboration on the project with Los Angeles musician Jamonie Lee on the track I Just Gotta Know. The song returns to the core of traditional R&B with heartfelt storytelling and warm melody. Critics and blogs have praised the album for its modern production, neo soul textures, and emotional expression. Many listeners describe it as one of the strongest independent R&B releases in recent years.

Kennard aims to create a human connection with every song. He treats each performance like a conversation so listeners feel seen and understood. He continues to perform in cities like New York and plans to expand his reach through upcoming shows and new releases from his independent label. For Kennard, music is more than entertainment. It is a lifelong passion driven by honesty, patience, and love for the craft. He is steadily building a catalog that respects the roots of soul while offering a fresh perspective to new audiences.
